Complete platform redesign
By 2019, Waycare was rapidly expanding its client base, but the onboarding process for users had become cumbersome and a significant pain point. This was largely due to the fact that the platform had been built and patched with new features as growth occurred. Recognizing this growing problem, the start of 2020 marked a pivotal moment for evolution. We aimed to build a new and improved platform that would provide our clients with a much better user experience, allowing us to allocate our efforts more efficiently and scale more quickly.Alt
Desktop View
The screen is divided into a map and a right-side panel, where users can find different types of events.
The primary users of this version are managers and operators at traffic management centers. They need to monitor and fully understand the situation on city streets while communicating with various agencies to handle events effectively.
Several features needed improvement, including the performance and clarity of the map and its elements, the ability to filter information, and the management of limited space that often displayed too much information at once. Additionally, a faster and more efficient event management system was required.
The screen was cleaned up, and the side panel was made collapsible and moved to the left, allowing users to have a larger view of the map when needed.
The filters were also enhanced. The side panel is now categorized by status, and the card structure has been redesigned to facilitate quicker understanding of events and the necessary actions.
Tablet View
The primary users of this version are drivers from various agency units who need to use the platform while on duty.
The interface is divided into two main sections: one for accessing all events and the other featuring a live map with filtering options.
However, the create/edit flow and filter usage were not intuitive for users, and the map's performance was subpar. Additionally, the information in the card overviews was not prioritized according to user needs.
The cards are now easier to read and understand, and the event creation flow has been improved. The search functionality was overhauled, along with the filters and asset layers, designed to apply consistently across both tabs.
Login and user information are now more clearly presented and more manageable for users.
